Honeywell HeatBud Ceramic Space Heater, Black – Energy Efficient Ceramic Heater with Two Heat Settings for Home, School or Office

Wednesday

 Great personal space heater
Okay so the deal with this heater is you need to manage your expectations of what you're getting. The thing is tiny, it's literally the size of a large cup of coffee. If you think it's going to heat a whole room, no matter how small, that's just ridiculous. What it works great for is sitting right next to you to warm you up in a drafty room. I love putting it next to me when I'm home working for long hours at a desk. Then I don't have to blast the whole house heater to keep me warm, because this little thing does a wonderful job keeping the chill off me, and it's so small that I barely notice the space it takes up on the desk. It's super quiet too, so I think you could definitely use it at an office and your co-workers wouldn't notice the sound. Given how reasonably priced and how small it is, I love this thing!! I strongly recommend, as long as you understand what it will and won't work for

awesome 2 stage mini heater
2 Year update:
Still going strong, probably have over 1000 hours of use on this. I currently use it at night with a smart outlet to take the chill out of a cold room. I should also note it is more than twice as expensive now as when I got it.

----------
PROS:
Awesome little unit that this has two heating stages with a physical switch:
Low: ~150 watts
High: ~250 watts
Neither are PWM so there's no buzzing or electrical issues if using a portable energy source.

Tip over protection is simple but works.

Overheat protection works as well. If input/output is obstructed it will stop working until the heating element has cooled (5 mins or so).

The plastic grille gets hot enough to startle, but not enough to cause a burn.

CONS:
The only bad thing, really, is that there is a chemical odor that is only now fading after 6 months of frequent use.

OTHER:
Remember that this is a very small heater. At 250 watts on high, it's 1/6th the power of a typical electric space heater. The airflow points slightly upwards so I've been putting it directly behind my keyboard to keep me warm while at my desk.

Perfect for winterizing a trailer
Perfect for my purpose. I have a travel trailer which will get condensation, mold and mildew inside it if it is not warmed slightly in the winter. It used to be that I could just leave a 100 Watt light bulb on in the winter, but alas, real 100 Watt bulbs are no longer to be found. The new LED ones only put out a few paltry Watts of heat even though they make lots of light. Same for the CF lights.

So, one of these little heaters is the solution. Plug it in in October and just let it run until March. Electricity use is not very much, and just a few degrees keeps the trailer mold and mildew free. I still need to keep a 110 V light bulb on in the trailer, just to let me know that the electricity is still on in there and the heater is working, but an LED works just fine for that job.

Going to buy a second one for the pump house this winter. We insulated it, and can keep the water lines from freezing with a little heater like this instead of a 1400 Watt electricity pig.

Great for indoor camping
It isn't a magic heater that will warm a room with the power of a 150-200 watt light bulb. It's as advertised, a personal heater, not a space heater and produces a quiet, warm breeze on top of your desk or under it. I live in a loft above a garage and with the bathroom as the only exception, no internal walls and a 12ft ceiling. It stays cool in the warm weather but this time of year I would go to the poorhouse trying to afford heat. I have a large self-standing tent over a couch and chairs heated with a regular 1200w space heater... my guests enjoy "camping out" inside. I also have a pop-up privacy tent that fits nicely over a reclining chair like a canopy which I pull up to my computer table. This heater keeps a warm billow of air around me while the rest of my cave is in the forties. For me, it's perfect! I do my computer work in the great indoors. If you are looking to heat anything larger than a closet, than this is not your choice.

How we used it for pets
So we built a cat shelter, a "catsle", and we bought this to keep the interior warm. We're in northern Montana, and temperatures here often reach -40ºF in the winter (and they've been known to hit -60ºF from time to time.) Keeping in mind the risks of pets getting too close to this kind of heater and the resulting potential problems that could arise if they did, I built an assembly to give the heater its own space. Here's the story:

I took a heavy board, glued (with three different glues) the ceramic heater to approximately center of it, created a dependable strain relief for the AC cord, hinged a basket with lots of clearance on all sides over that, zip-tied the AC cord to the basket in turn so that when the basket is opened, the cord flexes rather than pulls, and then locked down the basket.

This prevents the cats from getting too close to the input or the output of the heater, and if they do snuggle up to any one part of the basket, there will still be adequate airflow to allow the heater to work without risk of overheating or fire. The heavy board and wide footprint also prevent the assembly from overturning, although even if it did, it wouldn't cause a problem, because that heater isn't coming off that board without using a crowbar and a hammer due to the gluing of the heater itself to the board. We also have a security camera inside the catsle so we'd see it if that happened.

I was going to use the other two nylon loops to attach a wire retainer to the heater, but it turns out that after the glue dried, I was able to pick the assembly up by the heater and shake it very hard and the heater won't budge, so... never mind.

The heater itself is a relatively low wattage unit; it's more than sufficient to keep the catsle quite a bit warmer than outdoor ambient. That, along with the fact that there's no wind inside the catsle and the large heated pad that is also in there, provides a safe and cozy environment for the catsle's denizens.

If it has to be serviced, pulling one screw will open the basket, and the heater would then be pried (or hammered) off and replaced. The entire assembly can be lifted out through any of the tower hatches if needed.

 It works perfectly
I got this little low wattage heater to conduct an experiment. I needed a small heater for my small bedroom I share with my old husband. I'm old too. I needed to heat our cold room without making our electric bill go sky high. I needed a more warm room because I get migraines from neck muscle cramps. A warm environment helps me to not cramp up and then get a migraine. We live in a four bedroom house with five other children and grandchildren. My husband and I are the only ones to have a corner bedroom that is freezing cold all the time. In the mountains we don't have forced air heating. We use propane indoor heaters for each floor. Those heat up the house, except our bedroom. Now we are warm. It only takes a few hours to make the whole bedroom warm. Love this little heater. Thank you Amazon. You always come through for us.

I heat my whole house with eight Honeywell heatbud ceramic heaters!
First, to clarify, the area I live in during winter has some nights in the 30s, a rare night in the 20s, but most nights in the 40s. Daytime temps in winter are 50s, 60, & 70s. I have a 3 bedrm 2 bath double-wide manufactured home. I first tried using my central AC unit, which sits outside, that has a heating element built in; it draws 5000 watts & my bills were too high so I switched to four 1500 watt space heaters. Bills were lower, but some areas of the house were chilly and my wife didn't like the ionized hot metal odor they produced. I investigated infrared, electric oil filled radiators, and ceramic heaters. The infrared mostly heated objects & not so much the air, the oil filled radiators were large and my wife didn't like how they looked, so that left me with ceramics. But then I did something counterintuitive. Instead of purchasing 2 to 3 large ceramic heaters with large fans that blow the heat through the house, I purchased 8 tiny ceramic heaters, with tiny fans inside, that are advertised for: 'heating your feet under your desk'. Whenever you blow heat you immediately cool it down, actually by a fair percentage. The biggest heater, my outside AC heater, has one heck of a large fan and consequently the heat coming out of the ceiling vents is about 110 degrees, and yet the hot coil, a half-mile away (a bit of an exaggeration), is actually hundreds of degrees hot. Now the oil filled elect. radiators don't use fans, their heat is distributed by convection, but again they are large and my wife didn't think they would go with her decor. So my reasoning was, wouldn't it be better to have small heaters, with tiny fans, spread through the house, instead of 2 to 3 large heaters with larger fans that spread the heat but also simultaneously cooled it down? How much heat did the tiny heaters produce, which on high only used 240 watts, compared to the heat produced by space heaters, which used 1320 watts on high? Most space heaters are referred to as 1500 watt heaters but actually consume about 1300 watts. So I did what any good farm boy would do (I grew up on a small potato farm) I broke out my laser infrared thermometer, my wattage meter, and went and found two of my wifes meat thermometers and proceeded to do some testing. The results of these tests amazed me. I took photos of the experiments and then added words to the photos so please check them out. As I said I have eight heaters, one in each room except for the 2nd bathroom; I have two heaters in the largest room, the living room. I included one photo of the living room to give you an idea of how small they look, in addition, they are also extremely quiet & we smell no odor. One last important detail, on cold nights, I put reflective foam board insulators in each window because I only have single pane windows.

Best personal heater. QUIET, 160/250WATT
This is the best personal heater you can get.
1. It's quiet, just the woosh noise of the air passing through. I have tried many low watt heaters this one is the quietest, more importantly the sound is pleasent. The type of noise level you notice only if you are focusing on it. Exactly what I was looking for.
2. It's 2 low power 160watt or 250watt. For those cold nights, the 160watt can be run all night and day in a closed room. Still will consume less power than a central heater run just 2hrs. 160watt setting is perfect as that's all you need to maintain a comfortable 70f in a closed room, when the temperature dips to 30f outside. Again cannot stress enough how quite this is.
Cons
1. I wished this had thermostat built in. As I would not mind running this all day. Thermostat

If like me you were looking for a quiet heater for a room or desk, that can maintain a comfortable temperature to sleep or work without the annoying fan noise. This is it.

Small but Powerful!
I give this mini heater 5 stars. For its size, it really does a great job. I work in a traditional office space and it gets quite cold by mid-day. I keep this heater on my floor about 6 inches from my feet and it heats my feet and legs nicely. If there is a slight draft I put it on low, and if it is outright cold I put it on high and that is where this little things shines. It will not, of course, heat your entire body. But I keep a scarf for around my shoulders and I am usually comfortable enough to make it through the day. Since it is low wattage, I feel confident that it will not trip the circuit at work and it is discreet in black. Also, this heater is not incredibly noisy- especially since it is under the desk. It sounds like a small fan on the lowest setting. Not loud at all, so that is also good so that you don't get tired of hearing it, or disturb your coworkers.

Off/low/high is all the control I need.
This sits behind my at-home workplace chair. For the month of Oct, it has been a nice addition to my small enclosed workspace. The noise level is low,I don't notice it at all with my teleconference headset on. Seriously, it's very quiet. The 250W "high" setting handles my 10'x10' office well, aided by my PC, UPS, and laser printer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Small heater good for small applications

This heater is perfect for what it is, not for what it is not. It is only 250 watts, and it is small. That is not good for a room or football stadium, but on the other hand there are sometimes applications where that is perfect. For example; I use it in the cowl of my small Cessna 172 airplane and leave it on all night with a blanket on the cowl. This warms the engine and does not use excessive amount of power. I could not and would not want a 1500w heater in there, and it wouldn’t fit anyway. Remember it takes power to make heat. You are not going to get a house full of heat for 250 watts! But just maybe what you need is a small particular application, and in that case I’m glad they make this size.

My mother had bought this for me when I came to visit her in Chicago during the winter. And I have to say I was disappointed when I saw how small it was. I honestly was like I need to get something else but let me give it a try. So it was wayyyy better than I gave it originally when I saw it. Actually heats up a larger bedroom perfectly!! I ended up shutting it off half through the night because it had gotten to warm in my bedroom. So heat is great! Two settings, low and high. And it’s a pretty small heater. So I guess it’s great for an office or bedroom.

This fan does what I bought it for. It's small enough to stick in my backpack for work. Blows out pretty hot. Some things to keep in mind:
1. You have to be within 10 inches of it or you don't feel anything. It will in no way heat the area around you, just what its pointed at.
2. The high and low only change how hot it is, not how hard it blows out.
3. I'm pretty short so when I'm sitting in a chair the angle of it blows directly in my face which dries my eyes out quickly. Since there is a tilting trigger on the bottom that stops the heater when its tipped theres no good way to prop it up/down without having to tape the button.

I've been studying these little heaters for weeks. I'm looking for something that draws little energy to work with a solar generator for emergency use. Our electric ignition gas fireplace will not work during a power outage. I have a room set up in a power outage situation with a small tv, lots of blankets and want a little heater that will take the chill out of the air. I don't want to invest in a big generator and don't want the fumes associated with a gasoline generator.

After being torn for weeks, I decided to try this heater and it is much stronger than I had anticipated. I ran it for an hour just to burn the new mell off of it and it really warmed the room. I wasn't expecting this so I'm very happy with it and definitely recommend. Not going to heat a house but great for a small (not tiny) bedroom. The wattage is so low that I am blown away by the heat output. If anyone was going to make a good heater, I figured that it makes sense that Honeywell was going to do a great job. The heat coming out of it is hot.

This maxes out at 250 watts and it has a low setting at 170 watts. This draws less current than some incandescent bulbs used to, not 1500 like some heaters. It won't help alot in a really cold space, but it's great for keeping my feet warm in a cold office. At such a low wattage, I don't have to be scared of using extensions and it won't throw an expensive electric bill out there. I don't have to crank the house heat up in order to work from home. This is my 2nd winter having the heater and I've gotten great use from it. It has a tip over switch on the bottom, so if I do kick it over, it will stop heating. It's smaller than some speakers I have. I couldn't find any other heaters that had this low level of wattage when I was looking for it. Completely happy with the purchase.

Works for “what tiny wattage heater can I plug into my Jackery battery pack?”
- This one at its LOW 170 watt setting works fine (but higher 250 watts will turn OFF). Most other heaters are 300-1500 watts.
- But, yes, do read the other January review regarding how the heater does GOBBLE up the charge on the Jackery. However, instead of climbing out of my sleeping bag (van camping expeditions) to Start up the car engine, I can run this for 5 minutes at a time). So, NOOO, do Not leave this running all night (and it won’t anyway). It drained the Jackery-240 battery pack in about 2 hours.

- And/or this also works fine in an office/cubicle setting where a regular 300+ heater would trip power usage alarms. My cat has approved its use too.

Purchase for my wife while at work. Very nervous about whether it would put out sufficient heat to keep her warm. Some contradicting reviews on the matter. The report back though was two thumbs up. In fact she says she has to turn it off every once and awhile to keep from getting too warm.

Heater does have a tip safety switch but does not have a thermostat. You must turn the heater on and off. This does worry me as it could be easy to forget and leave on particularly when leaving work. With any heating product the last thing you want to do is leave it on all night with nobody around. But for the price I really don't think you can complain too much.

All in all a great product that works as described.

We wanted something that when tipped over it stopped immediately and this does so! It definitely helps warm me up but sometimes I still seem to have to throw my blanket over top of it to really do the trick. It’s nice and safe and warms it up a couple degrees at least keeping your a couple degrees warmer. Our office is a very open space maybe if in a cube with higher walls or a door it would help better. If it broke I would consider buying it again though for the same use.

It's not a Power House. But I didn't want that. I wanted a little heater and what I have found in this wattage range in the past turns off after a few hours. Like an electric blanket.
I'm using this to heat my pump house, actually, the section where the water softener is. It works great and will hopefully last a lot longer than replacing a couple of 75 watt bulbs a couple of times each Winter. Yeah, I did buy a couple of spares....
Anyway. I have this plugged into an outlet controlled by a Honeywell baseboard heater thermostat. Set to 50f. The big freeze this Winter? When it was 1F here? 45F was the lowest temp I saw in the pump house.

I may or may not break even versus the the cost of this and the t-stat and the cost of replacing light bulbs used for heat. But I have what looks to be a very nice heater and I don't have to wonder where I can buy incandescent bulbs anymore.

we used this small heater for our tent camping with chilly nights. The temperature went in the thirties at night and this heater provided enough heat to take the crisp and the chill out of the cold air inside the tent. It doesn't provide a lot of heat, which is what we wanted, because the heater would be on when we are asleep. The heater is safe because it doesn't overheat, and it is quite so it doesn't interfere with the sleeping. I would recommend this product for tent camping.

While it is working good so far, there are two problems I have with it. At my job, my hands can get really cold randomly and I needed something to keep them warm so I can type/use mouse. This was the best desktop heater I could find for my needs.

The problems are not the fault of the product but because I need it to heat my hands, this unit was designed to blow the air at about a 40-45 degree angle and not strait. This causes the heat to blow up above my hands. I have to prop something under it to lean it forward so the heat runs across my hands.

The second problem is the fan that blows the heat is not very powerful. I understand that if it blows to hard, the heating elements wont be able to get hot but this causes the heat to rise too fast and not reach my hands. It sorta helps but just not enough for me. I currently use it to cup my hands in front of it to allow them to heat up every so often.

Again these problems are specific to my needs, if I just needed it to keep warm altogether I think it would be fine.

Only downside, the heat output feels low BUT it’s also very low wattage, and if being used as a personal heater like on your desk, you WILL feel the heat and it gets warm/hot pretty quickly.

Working from home in a single 10' x 12' small bedroom turned office. Didn't want to waste energy by maintaining the whole house at 71F during winter, so I just shut the door, and this little 250 watt heater keeps the room at 72F. If it gets a little warm, the "Low" setting will step it down to 175 watts.
It only draws 2 amps at 125 volts (nominal) on high setting - so no worries about plugs, outlets or cords overheating.

The fan on it is slightly louder than I would've liked, but it's a more white-noise sound than a motor one - so I'm OK with it.

Perfect for desk or small area. I bought this with another larger space heater and was very happy it. It isn't intended to do a large area, but sometimes you need that. I live in FL and don't need much from a heater. This knock the chill out of my small bedroom before I went to bed while a larger heater worked the family room. The larger heater throws the breaker in my bedroom, so I need something like this to just help a little in there. I'm also excited to use it at work when I don't need it at home. I work in a cold office, even in summer I shiver, and this is perfect for my work area. People bring in heaters all the time that are really too large and can cause problems. I never brought one in because I didn't know they made them this small. It feels sturdy and won't give off too much heat to bother co-workers. At 250 watts, it also won't cause an outage, unlike some larger heaters have done in my office.

This is a very low power unit, only one other is available this low (200 watt model.) IT is only sufficient to moderate under a desk or in an enclosed area (caution: you must use a thermostat if the area is entirely enclosed, including a small car.) If your desk is enclosed by barriers it might be able to keep the hands warmer...
Its really for applications where your trying to run it on a circuit which is overloaded or on a long cord. Dont by this expecting to heat a room or anything (though you might be able to use 3..4 of them around the room, but why not just buy a higher power unit.)

I can talk and hear on the phone without effort and I do not have to raise my TV volume when I turn it on. This will not warm a chilly room, but will warm your local desk space nicely. 250 watts is not much heat output but it does the trick for me. I have two of these and they have worked great. The quiet fan is what makes this impressive to me.

I've used this heater for a lot of different things ... from a hand warmer to a bed warmer ...

I've used this in a grow room where it replaced a 1500 watt space heater ... i could use 2 or even 3 of these during winter and still be pulling a fraction of wattage from the wall ... if the space is relatively small mine being 5' x 15' then it works out perfectly. outdoor temps in the went would be 30 - 40 F* and inside would be about 70*F of couse you could also use a temp sensor and have the whole system shutdown at a certain temp.

My other use being bed room ...
i have a wall unit heater and a/c like in a hotel... i have been able to reduce electricity use in my bedroom, using this heater.

I could easily see buying several of these ive dropped them hard and slammed a few around and they still work ... i bought 2 in 2018 1 i stopped using and the other still works ... it ran quite literally constantly for 6 months and never had any issues. on low it pulls 180 watts and on high its more like 250 or so .

I ran this all day yesterday and never had an issue once! It is very small but under a desk, it keeps your legs nice and toasty. It could easily fit on top of a desk for arm warmth but I have not tried it yet. It definitely will not heat up your whole office area but I just wanted my legs to be warm. It is VERY quiet and the two speeds have a slight difference but not much. I am very happy with this purchase and glad to not be frozen anymore :)

I have used one of these in my wet bay for over 4 years, sometimes in overnight temps as low as 10 degrees. I'm surprised how much heat comes out of this little thing. I use it on LOW heat mode, pointing at my arms (not at my hands so that it doesn't point directly at the laptop). I work on my desk about all day (I'm a graphic designer). I manage to keep my body warm with a blanket, and/or sweaters, but today, it's raining in OKC, and for some reason, my hands can't warm up by themselves. I turn it off once I feel good. Then back on when I'm hot. I'm the same way in my car.
Great electiricity consumption. Multiple things plugged into the same outlet and no energy surges.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little bathroom heater if you have patience. Would be great for office use.

We purchased this to warm up our tiny bathroom. It fits nicely on the corner of our tiny counter. It is a little on the slow side to warm up the bathroom, but it can eventually get the room up to about 70-75 degrees after 10+ minutes. Its great for showers in the winter so we don't come out of the shower to a 50 degree room. This would be perfect for sitting on a desk in a cold office, or under the desk to warm your feet (which I think is what it's intended purpose was). We only use the high setting because it's undersized for our needs, but it works well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for keeping just yourself warm, or safely faking a kotatsu.
Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2017

I got this heater because my my particular room of the house is not as well insulated, nor my bathroom, and when it's cold out, my room is always a few degrees below what the thermostat says it is in the house. That said, one of these lil' guys is not going to really heat your room.

That said, the rooms don't need to be heated-- just me. Putting this heater on the floor near by chair, and having a blanket (sarong, actually) around my legs makes a makeshift kotatsu-like arrangement. The hot air blows underneath the blanket (without the blanket getting too near, or touching the unit), rises up, and keeps everything under the blanket warm!

In a pinch, this also had a similar effect in the bathroom while I brush my teeth and get ready. Now, I did notice that if I shut the bathroom door and leave this on for a couple hours, the room gets a few degrees warmer. Mind you, if you're going to shower or do anything that puts steam in the air, you don't want the heater on at the same time.

So what did I do for my room, just to experiment? Not the healthiest solution, but I put the heater on, and lit six small candles. A combination of these things, with the door closed, made my room feel about 5-7 degrees warmer in a couple hours. After a few hours, it was quite cozy in there.

I purchased this product to heat my 2 man tent. I had access to shore power, but will follow up on draw from solar generator. It worked great to ‘warm’ the tent, 30 degrees out, slept with my 20 degree bag unzipped. The tent was just warm enough to keep all of my gear from being ice cold when I got dressed. Kept the tent comfortable, I wouldn’t say it changed the temp drastically.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for personal space at home or in office!

I love this little heater as it is super quiet, and for me, the perfect amount of heat for personal space. For example around your feet or setting up next to you on a desk. It being quiet was important to me and also if you knock it over or hit it at all it immediately turns off. It does not blow hard so it will warm a small enclosed space or you would need to have it somewhat near you. Since this was exactly what I was looking for I think this is great. Also I don't like to be too warm with long sleeves and regular appropriate work clothing on. So again this is perfect for that. Also the price, and I compared several, is really good for what I needed and a lot less than the little heaters I was using which have doubled their price since the last time I purchased them.

Purchased this for my cubicle at work. They actually don't allow these in the office, I had seen an email stating they were not allowed as they were considered fire hazards. Not sure why they keep the office so cold in the office though, my fingers are numb. I have left this on accidentally over the weekend a few times and have had no issues, no major fire. It does shut off if it topples or moves suddenly. Once, it shut off and it didn't work for about 15 mins but finally came back on I was so happy because I was really cold. It's kind of like a small weak hair dryer that constantly blows hot air. You have to be pretty close to it though to get any warmth from it. I just keep it under my desk on top of a reversed recycling bin and it radiates heat to my legs and up to my body a bit. The heat does make a huge difference for me for comfort. It would be great if I could just trap the hot air under my desk with like a large blanket. I am giving it 5 stars because I have had it for a few months and it is on almost 12 hours per day every weekday and some weekends and it is still going strong. No complaints whatsoever, especially given the cost. Even it it breaks after one season, I will just buy another one. The size is small enough, no one can see it, especially any of the building maintenance guys who will probably report me if they knew I had this.

For work at night. Works pretty well for a small heater. There is a safety button on the bottom so that it will shut off if it falls over.
I set it on top of my desk and it doesn't do much, as it is too big of a space, unless it is almost on top of me. However, I set it under my desk by my feet, and the whole area under my desk is toasty warm and so my whole body feels MUCH warmer. I like it. But it is very small and very small capability. It works well for an indoor, normal temperature, I'm just a cold person, thing. It if is actually a cold temperature or it is a large space, you'll need a larger one.

This heater provided exactly what I was looking for. A low noise, low wattage heater to take the chill off, without having to heat a whole room. I have wall heaters, but they tend to heat the open space unevenly, and I’d wind up too hot or chilly while waiting for the heat to kick in. I wanted something that would give me enough heat in my general area for face and hands while typing and my sweater and socks would do the rest. This fit the bill. It has a low and high setting and isn’t loud, so I can focus on working and also has the auto turnoff feature if knocked over.

First off, I like the safety feature it has in case it tips over. When I went to lift it to move to a different spot on my desk, it turns off immediately. The outside of it doesn’t get hot either. That’s a plus in case you touch it by accident. The size is perfect on my desk. It looks like a little speaker, so less noticed by people. It’s also not super loud that it can bother my co-workers. The sound reminds me more of a low-setting white noise machine. As for the heat, I have it turned on to high (low is just not warm enough for me) and it radiates heat at whatever it is pointed at (i.e my upper body). It’s not meant to heat up a room or space like other heaters do. It heats just me and the temperature is just right.

I bought this heater to keep at work since the office is always freezing. I love how small it is, not taking up much space on my desk and how it automatically shuts off when it tips over. This definitely wouldn't heat up a room though, it is a very personal space heater. I leave it in front of me under my monitor, and points slightly up to direct the heat at me. I've moved this under my desk too and it's kept my feet nice and warm. The two heat settings are nice, but I almost always have it on the highest setting.

I like how quiet the heat bud heater is, and it doesn't use up too electricity so I have yet to experience a short at my desk. This cute heater has gotten many compliments at my office due to how small but warm it is. My coworker even bought a black one for herself off of Amazon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Goes through about 1% of Jackery 240 Charge per Minute

Purchased this to consider using with my Jackery 240 for car camping in the winter because it had a "low" and "high" wattage usage option (low = ~175, but was ~150w in my test). After testing with my Jackery 240, on low, it went through about 1% of the charge per minute. When I realized this would quickly use my Jackery’s charge (esp if wanting to charge phone, watch, etc.), I decided it would be better to turn on my Outback for 3 minutes to warm up before tucking in. Good product, but returned since it would not serve my purposes. Leaving this review in case others can benefit from this knowledge.

This little heater is really surprising. I use it to heat the rear section of my SUV. When sleeping in the vehicle, I place a divider behind the front seats, which reduces the area to be heated. With a secondary, deep cycle battery, and a full sine wave inverter, it heats my small area very well. If I were in a larger vehicle, it would not be sufficient, but for my purposes, and especially at the price, it's a good value.

Seems ok but smaller than I realized. Heats up pretty well and has 2 levels. The Brighton is not adjustable and heat circle is more centralized. Prefer Honeywell since it has larger circle to disperse the heat. Wanted to take camping but reviews say it’s for indoors. Be careful of wattage & volts for generators. Might be okay on a table outside a few hours but didn’t test this out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great mini heater
Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2017
Color: BlackStyle: HeaterVerified Purchase
This mini heater is the PERFECT size for those looking to inconspicuously warm up. My office was so cold, I had a hard time working, but we could not have heaters, so I had to take my larger, noisier heater (an old one from Honeywell) home. This one is about the size of a computer speaker (maybe 1/2 inch wider) and much quieter (although still audible in a quiet office). I will say that this heater does not pack as powerful of a punch as my larger one did, but it got the job done. It will heat up the area immediately surrounding it. So, if it is on the floor, your feet and legs will be warm. If it is on the desk, your hands and arms will be warm. It will not heat up an entire office or cube or a whole body. I was thinking about getting a second one (one for on top of my desk for my hands and another on the floor for my feet), but (thankfully) I moved to another office that is not so bad. When it gets chilly in there, I have this little guy on the floor to warm me up. It has an auto shut-off if it tips over, so if that is a requirement, you are good to go.

As a note, this is just a heater. It does not have a fan function. So, if I get caught, there is no doubt that its a heater. lol With my other heater, I could tell people I used it to cool off my office because it had two fan options and a heat option. This one just heats up.

My dorm tends to be freezing, but i worry about the fire hazard of a space heater. I bought this small one, expected it to be a little bigger and more powerful. After reviewing the description I think I just misinterpreted how big it would be though. I would 100% recommend this for a desk in a small room or office/cubicle space, sitting within 5 feet of it, otherwise do not expect it to do much for you! I believe the intention is for this purpose, so I still give it like 4/5 stars even though it is not the most powerful little guy! Sometimes I bring it with me in my backpack if I am studying elsewhere because I cant focus if I'm cold!

I bought this thinking that it’s small enough to go under my desk. I give it four stars because for the price I expected a little more heat. It works but only right next to my feet. The safety feature is great. There’s a button on the bottom and as long as that is pressed the item functions. I would also note that this heater angles upward a bit. That was disappointing for me because If I place it on top of my desk it blows up towards my face. And over me even. Not at my arms where I would like the heat. So I keep it under my desk and I’ve had it for some months now. I continue to use it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Heater Overall
Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2021
Color: BlackStyle: HeaterVerified Purchase
We bought this heater to heat a VW Bus when camping.
At an all-morning event today and I decided to do some testing. Our tintop VW bus came with two 90ah sealed 12v batteries under the bench. I have since fitted a 300w 120v inverter and a 100w solar panel.
Today, when I hooked up this 250w heater to the 300w inverter, the temp in the bus was 52 degrees. I left the heater on high (which is pretty weak) and left it alone. 45 mins later the temp in the bus was noticeably warmer - the bus thermometer stated 65 degrees.
I think that's pretty good. Assuming for the battery available 180ah, I will have 100ah usable (they were fitted by the prev owner so not sure of the age) and that gives me 1200w to burn. On high heat, that would be almost 5.5 hours of use because this heater uses 225w when always on. In reality, I may have more ah to use, I'm being conservative.
So, if you have decent auxiliary batteries and an inverter, you're in business.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad
Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2021

I read through the reviews and bought this heater. It works as advertised. I will say the "fan" on this barley moves any air making it difficult to rate this as a heater. If you were at a desk in a small cubicle with this sitting a foot from you the resulting heating would be productive as the heat could build over time to fill the small area but if you are not in a cubicle I would not recommend this heater. Not because the heater is defective but because you would literally have to keep it 6 inches from you to get any results. I will keep it and once I return to working from the office after the pandemic this will be useful but for the moment I have started a search for something a tad bit more stout but still with the low wattage so I don't trip a breaker.

Update:
The more I use it the more I figure out how to adjust it's abilities to my needs. As stated there is not much air flow from the heater but there is a steady stream of heat so overall it is performing as advertised. I still believe it would be best used in an office setting instead of an open area but I am able to get relief from the chill in the room. I will look for something to better suit my needs next time but I am ok with this purchase and would recommend it for an office setting.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad if you just want to warm up your fingers at your desk, but know what you're getting
Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2021
Color: BlackStyle: HeaterVerified Purchase
The first thing you need to know is that electric heaters are all 100% efficient and their heat output is entirely relative to their wattage (how well they get the heat they produce to you is another question). This heater is 250 W on "high" (which is not high) and 170 W on "low" (which indeed is very, very low).

For me, in California, I just want something to keep my fingers (which don't have the best circulation) warm at my desk. The "high" setting works OK for this (from less than two feet away), though maybe barely. On the "low" setting, you may actually feel colder due to the breeze that it generates. In comparison, a similar 500 W heater provides a much more gratifying blast at first, but then gets unbearably hot after a few minutes.

Really, I wish that low were 250 W, and that high were 350 or 400. That would be much better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple, Quiet, and Effective.
Reviewed in the United States on November 18, 2019
Color: BlackStyle: HeaterVerified Purchase
I needed a small heater to fit, unobtrusively, under my desk at our new office space. I tested 3 other heaters before deciding on this one for a few reasons: (1) It's only 250 watts, so it's not going to pop a breaker or something; (2) it has 2 "levels" of heat - Low and High; (3) It has a fan, so it's blowing the warm air to me; (4) it is QUIET and (5) it's small and looks like a speaker so it should go un-noticed.

In using the heater, it does not pump out a ton of heat - in fact, I had to up the level from Low to High on my first use. But, in testing the other heaters, I felt like they put out way too much heat for my needs, and I figured I'd just spend all day adjusting it. So, this way, with a few adjustments of which way the fan blows, I can just set it on, and let it go most of the day instead of off/on/off/on/off/on. Once I found the perfect location on my desk setup, I was comfortable.

As for it's noise level - it is QUIET. Can't tell a difference between low and high either. I doubt the guys that sit next to me can even hear it. It is about 2-3 feet from my ear and I can tell it is on (probably a good thing anyway) but I can't hear it over me typing this review. Very quiet.

Only weird thing is that it does angle up, when sitting flat on a surface. So, if you put it on your desk, it would likely blow into your face. I have it down closer to the floor, so it's getting my knees/lap and arms. If my ankles were cold, I could likely warm them up by placing it on the floor.

I needed this delivered quickly, and wanted to support a small vendor, so ordered from AttachedGF LLC for Prime delivery. Last night, the order was cancelled, forcing me to scramble and re-order directly from Amazon to still get it delivered today. AttachedGF LLC says it's Amazon's fault, but I notice that despite their 99% satisfaction rate, there were several such reports about items ordered from them via Amazon, and as often as I order from Amazon directly and via third parties using both Prime and their own delivery services, I've not had this particular problem elsewhere. Kudos to Amazon for still getting it here on time.

As for the heater itself, it's bigger than I somehow expected, though still small compared to other ceramic heaters I've used, and much cuter. I also like that it has two heat levels, both low enough not to trip most circuit breakers. As advertised, the case remains cool to the touch. Tip-over protection also works well.

The only negatives for me are: 1) there is a huge ugly yellow fabric warning tag on the power cord labeled "Do not remove." 2) I wish there were also a version of this that includes a thermostat.

I wouldn't see any use of this at home unless you're considering it to heat up a desk there as well. Not big enough for a bathroom.

I kept blowing out the electricity in the ancient government building (1880s) that my office is located in with a regular space heater. Single pane windows that do not shut all the way is where my desk is located, so I needed something. Since my cell phone charger did not blow out the electricity when plugged, in I decided to look for a space heater that uses no more than a cell phone charger.

This is it. It is not powerful. It will take at least an hour to get the area where I am sitting warmed, so that I am not a complete popsicle. I keep it under my desk to create a pocket of warm air because I work in a space with 16 other people, but it does help in February when the temperature is 20 degrees. I am considering getting a second to see if that would help. If you sit in an enclosed office, this should definitely be enough. And it has a tip over safety function.

3.0 out of 5 stars Potentially a good buy...
Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2022
Color: BlackStyle: HeaterVerified Purchase
I bought this heater to keep my feet warm. I wanted a heater that doesn't draw a lot of power, and this one seemed to fit the bill for a couple of reasons, plus it carries the Honeywell name. After trying it out one time, I was disappointed. I was ready to send it back but decided to give it another shot. Here are my initial thoughts:

1. On low setting, it didn't give the warmth I needed for my feet (which was expected from a heater this size), but I think that the reason for that had a lot to do with it being built to direct the heat at a 20-23 degree angle from the floor. So, you'll feel the warmth hitting you below your knees, instead of your feet. DING.

2. The vent isn't adjustable to allow you to direct the heat. DING.

3. If you prop it up (which you shouldn't have to do) to keep it angled to your feet, the safety switch at the bottom of the heater will turn the heater off. DING.

Now, granted every person is different, I will say that with some adjustment in expectations, you still could get some use out of it. At its max setting (250 watts), this heater gave me a reason to at least want to test how it will hold up with prolonged use. It now sits on a wooden tray on my bed to keep me warm while watching Netflix or while taking a nap. For that purpose, and the fact that it only draws between 170-250 watts compared to another mini heater I have which draws 700-800 watts of power, this tiny Honeywell heater is energy efficient. To me, that is its greatest selling point. So, I'm holding onto it until the 30-day mark, then we shall see...

This heater is fine and I use it every day, but it does have some flaws. First of all, the heater has a "high" and a "low" setting. I have found no difference between these settings at all. They sound and feel the same. The air that does come out (I keep it on the "high" setting for good measure) is very similar to that of a blow dryer on a low setting. It does blow warm but you have to be within inches of the heater to feel it at all. If I am more than about 6 inches away from the heater I cannot feel it. This also means my right arm (the one next to the heater) is very warm, while the rest of my body is not much warmer than if I don't use the heater at all. Overall, it is fine but not great.

Color: RedStyle: HeaterVerified Purchase
I work in an office building right near a window and during the winter time a cold draft rolls through and I needed something to balance the temperature out. Since im cheap this was the space heater for me.

The good: The price when I grabbed it was about 15 bucks, compared to other smaller space heaters this was the cheapest with most others starting around 24.99. There is a two setting switch on the top, and a neat pressure lever underneath the heater so if it tips over the heat shuts off. Because its so small it’s easy to tuck away under my desk or stash in a small cabinet.

The not so good: Where the heater struggles is it doesn’t warm that large of an area. It does ok under my desk but when it gets COLD it doesn’t get nearly warm enough fast enough, and I end up having to borrow a co-workers larger 60 dollar heater. Considering the size and price though this is a drawback that I expected and aside from those colder days it works just fine.

The Verdict: If I was looking to purchase a space heater today and buy one I see there are a few more larger small space heaters I would probably give a try as opposed to this Honeywell. For for an extra 5-10 bucks getting one a bit bigger only makes sense.

It says it's a two speed but it realistically lonely has one. The switch for "high" and "low" is there but there isn't any difference. It's the same amount of heat being pushed out of the little guy. Unless it's a user error. It's small and perfect for sitting on the desk. The colors are fun. Not what I was expecting but will work given the price of other heaters.

It is so small and puts out so little heat that it is only worth it if you are going to keep your hands right next to it. It is under my desk and my feet are freezing. Better off buying a strong one that you can turn down where this one there is not way to get more heat. It doesn't even blow hard. I feel like it barely heats.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good small heater but Caution: case deformation from falling over
Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2017
Color: RedStyle: HeaterVerified Purchase
Will first start with what was good about it. Small, warms up the feet and legs nicely while sitting at the desk. It won't heat a full room but that was not what it was built for, hence the 250W rating it says on the bottom of the unit.

Now here is the bad news.

Even though the unit has a safety tilt switch on the bottom, it doesn't solve the fact that it is STILL HOT when it tips over if it was still on. The attached pictures show exactly what happens if the unit stays on for too long and then falls over, even with the safety tilt switch working as intended. The heat generated will start to deform the higher side of the plastic casing, whichever side is facing to the skies.

If you place this where it won't tilt over easily, then it's ok to use for small areas to heat. However, if your household/office space is prone to walking-feet-hitting-everything... Avoid this. At. All. Cost. Will be asking for a refund on this due to the safety hazard of possible melting/burning plastic.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pretty much a hand warmer

As much as I want to like this heater I just can’t really recommend it. It’s not that it’s a “bad” product because I don’t think it is, it just doesn’t fit my use. This heater, being only 250w on high, only puts out heat about a foot in front of it. You pretty much have to hold your hands in front of it like a campfire to warm them up, and it’s not like I’m outside in the snow or anything, the room is ~65°F. For myself and probably almost everyone else, that just isn’t going to cut it. The safety stop on the bottom is nice, the High/Low switch seems to work just fine, I’m sure it’ll last a long time, but it just isn’t hot enough. I’m going to be trying out the Amazon Basics 500W heater next. Hopefully that will solve my problems.

This heater is VERY small. I knew it would be smaller, but was surprised when I opened the box to see such a tiny heater! I was hopeful that it was still powerful, but am pretty disappointed in the heat that it generates. I leave it under my desk, which is enclosed, on high, and right next to my legs and still feel cold!! I returned this item and am going for a more powerful one.

BUT if you are only looking for slight heat and are willing to leave it running constantly, maybe this could work for you?

Bought two of them. One has failed after one season. Won't come on, though the light comes on. I took it apart to see if there was something simple to fix, newp. Couldn't find any blown components, the safety switch appears to work correctly.

Warranty is garbage, requires paying to ship it to Honeywell and paying their shipping for sending it back.

2.0 out of 5 stars Only aims up
Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2019

I purchased this unit to use at my desk. I keep my home cold in the winter to save money, but at my desk my hands get cold (The rest of me can wear slippers and a sweater). The 250 watt setting on this unit would have been perfect, if I could actually point the damned thing at my hands. Instead the stream of warm air starts 3" off the desk, and aims up at roughly a thirty degree angle. It does spread out a bit, but by the time it's a foot from the face of the heater, the bottom of the warm air stream is 7" off the desk. As a result, I can heat my face, but not my hands.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very weak

I bought this heater for my office where my colleagues live to set the temperature at Polar. Although quiet, this heater barely produces any heat, even at the High setting. One has to be right next to it, touching it, in order to get any heat. Otherwise it seems of a good quality, and the auto shut-off function is an useful feature, as I tend to kick it inadvertently a lot (since it has to be right next to my feet to warm up).

2.0 out of 5 stars Not much heat

I purchased this heater because it was approved by my company to use in the office. I am always cold and the heater I had previously was not approved.

While it does get warm, the fan hardly blows and you pretty much have to be touching the heater to feel and warmth from it.

Was not worth the price, you're better off getting a blanket or wearing gloves in the office.

2.0 out of 5 stars Does Not Always Work
Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2018

Purchased this heater for my desk due to its sleek design and quiet noise. Reading all the reviews, I anticipated the heating power not to be so strong and that it could only heat a small area - that was fine with me..

The only qualm I have with this product is that it sometimes does not work... but it eventually does. My office is very cold especially in the mornings. When I turn this heater on, it will not turn on or produce any heat at all. I will sometimes have to wait until lunch time or after before it starts working again. If you need consistent heating, I would recommend going with another heater.

2.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Small Little Heater, BUT Broke after One Year

Does exactly what I need it to do--heats my personal space wonderfully. Low wattage so I don't feel bad about running it a lot.

UPDATE: One year later---broken. The heater shuts off after two minutes, then it has to sit awhile before it will turn on again. It was great while it lasted. And even though it has a 5-year warranty, you have to PAY for shipping back to the manufacturer AND include $10 for them to ship the repaired unit back to you. Yeah, no deal, since that will cost more than an entire new unit. I am going to purchase another model.

But not for me. I assume that most people are getting this to put on top of their desk at work. That's why I got it. My office is always extremely cold. Unfortunately this did nothing for me. I tried moving it under my desk ( on top of my paper shredder) and wasn't making me warm there either. If you keep it on top of your desk, pointed directly at your keyboard it will keep your fingers warm but don't expect anything else to be. I'm returning this to get the regular sized desk heaters.

I’m not sure how anyone can give this a good review? Barely heats air 12” in front of you. I would say almost worthless. I had to send it back because it doesn’t produce enough heat to warm under a desk. Fan noise is also fairly loud. I would look elsewhere for a personal heater. I will be trying a 2 speed heater that works on 400w on low and 900w on high. I’m hoping the low setting will be ok to warm a desk area. This Honeywell product is so small and only has a 250w option which doesn’t produce enough heat.

It lasted about 5 days until it would start to turn off by itself so I figured it is little maybe it needs a break since I did have it for the full 8 hours of work during the previous days. I turned it off for the rest of the day. The next day I turned it on and it worked so I would turn it off every two hours for 1 hour and so on every day after that. It laster maybe 2 weeks total until it stopped turnin on at all. I would not recommend this product. It has no durability.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad thermal relay in one of two units

I bought 2 of these units and used them both just three times. One of the two stopped working; the red light comes on but not the fan or heating element. The one that is failing has a bad thermal relay (is designed to prevent overheating but turns off prematurely). If it is left off for a while, the thermal relay will cool and the heater will turn on again.

My other identical heater does not have a bad thermal relay and when used sitting next to the faulty one, does not turn itself off.

1.0 out of 5 stars Changing my review from 5 to 1 stars - Faulty wiring
Reviewed in the United States on June 28, 2020
Color: BlackStyle: HeaterVerified Purchase
Even though I live in a state where it's over 90 and humid as hell in the summer, I still have this running all day. Why? Because there are others in the house that like to have the air conditioner on full blast all summer to the point that it's freezing inside. I sit this little heater under my desk and it helps warm my area and keep me from getting too chilly without drawing too much electricity. This won't significantly warm a room, or if it did you'd have to keep it running a the higher speed for hours at a time. But if your feet are cold it's great to put under your desk. I like that it's so quiet you can barely hear it. Just a low whooshing sound but nothing distracting. It also blows warm almost instantly, within a few seconds.

- Edit, I'm changing what was a 5 star review to 1. I've now owned 2 of these things. Both of them had the same problem within 6 months. The power cord shorts out easily. Everything is great for 5 months or so. But over time you start noticing that if the wire bends a certain way the power cuts off. Then you have to play with the wire to get it to come back on. Then after another week of that or so it just stops working. I have two of these. It happened with the first and I just figured it's a fluke. Now it happened to the other. So there's clearly some weak wiring reinforcement in this thing. I could probably strip the wire cover and find where the break is and fix it, but something barely half a year old I should not have to do this.

I bought this heater to put in a cupboard of my trailer where my plumbing lines are located. I put it on a 12 hour/day timer (on at night) to keep the trailer plumbing from freezing during the winter. I tested it for a few hours before putting it in the trailer. It worked fine, and seemed to do a nice job of warming the plumbing cabinet in the trailer. So after a week I stopped checking it regularly. But 2 days ago I checked and it was DEAD. The power light came on but no heat/no fan. I'm not sure exactly when it died, but it was sometime in the first 5 weeks I owned it! I hope my plumbing survived.

This product is NOT RELIABLE.

1.0 out of 5 stars Decent for very small spaces, doesn't last long.

It works well enough for the price. I love the very small, compact design. It's very quiet; I work in a very quiet office and I can barely hear it even sitting right next to it. The only down side is it puts out only a little heat which you can feel up to about a foot away. I put it either on top of my desk pointed directly at me or very close to my legs/feet. It's only for a very small space. I should have chosen a bigger/more powerful one to use at home and work, but for just keeping me warm at my desk it's perfect. Anything more is asking too much of it.

Edit: downgrading to one star. I've now had this heater for just over two years and I am looking to purchase a new heater that is bigger and more powerful. This heater has a low and high setting built-in and there used to be a noticeable difference in both the heat and amount of power between the two settings. Recently it seemed to no longer work on high even when turned to that setting. There was no difference between the heat I feel from it on the low and high settings, it didn't really do anything. Today it no longer works at all. I will not be purchasing this again and would suggest to anyone to not buy this and go with a bigger, more powerful heater that will last longer.

Would not turn on with the switch unless I held the rocker switch down as hard as I could. As soon as I would let up on the pressure on the switch, it would turn off. Also, something is rattling around inside of it.

While holding the switch down, heat seemed ok for the wattage that is listed and it does have a small fan. However, I'm just going to return it and not get another one because the build quality seems to be too poor.

This will not heat you up if you put it under your desk. It's maybe for the top of your desk, near your hands.

On the plus side, it was quiet, but I attribute that to the lack of production moreso than a selling feature. I have since purchased the Lasko MyHeat Personal Ceramic Heater and I am very happy.
